Women are portrayed as the intellectual superiors in almost every room. The primary female characters are colder and more competent than their male counterparts, who are often driven by emotional fragility or obsession.

The show does not center on sexual identity or gender theory. A male character is played by a female actress, but the character within the story is treated as a male without political commentary on gender identity.

The series is explicitly built on the idea that technology has superseded God. It renames the project 'Deus' and argues that human life is merely a mathematical calculation, dismissing faith as a misunderstanding of physics.
